“You must stay drunk on writing so reality cannot destroy you.” - Ray Bradbury

Sometimes, reality can be a steaming pile of crap. If you’re a writer, then doing just that can be a perfect form of escape. Lord knows I dove head-first into #WhoIsTalyaNightingale to get through some of the work-related stress going on in my life (which was also a little crazy, since I did it by way of NaNoWriMo during literally the busiest month of my life back in 2015). I never said I knew WHAT I was doing.

I did drop off the face of the blog the last few weeks, because other than a few highlights, July just sucked. Also, I was busy and completely overestimated my capabilities to post as usual while hiking 70 teenagers through the Malibu wilderness (did’t know Malibu HAD wilderness? Surprise!).

On the flip side, I have been inspired to take a dive into a new novel, which I am currently calling #GroundhogOne, as it is to the tune of Rogue One: A Star Wars Story meets Groundhog Day. Trust me, I know what I’m doing.

Maybe.

But anyway, if you want updates on #GroundhogOne, hop on over to the Twitterwhere I will likely end up whining ad nauseam about what possessed me to start writing a story that may or may not work on a linear timeline. It’s my most complicated storyline so far, but I think I’ve gotten to the point where I CAN write it.

That’s another thing. Sometimes you may think of a plot that you don’t currently have the ability to appropriately reflect on the page. There’s nothing wrong with that, just like there’s nothing that says you have to write THAT story right NOW. Take your time, and don’t rush it. Who knows, I may end up shelving #GroundhogOne for a while after I start writing the second (through eighth) book in the #WhoIsTalyaNightingale universe. The future is unknown to us all, but I know mine is going to include a LOT of writing.

Here’s to a productive week of writing. Don’t forget to sign up for the #MondayMotivation Newsletter by clicking HEREThe newsletter makes its triumphant return to your inbox tonight! It will feature a little background on the inspirational process behind #GroundhogOne, and how I actually figured out the plot to its sequel (#OneVendetta) FIRST.
