BOOKS I RECOMMEND
Genre: Science Fiction, Gothic, Horror
If you like: The Welcome To Night Vale Podcast, expanded universes, a shapeshifting teenager, pawn shops, books with excellent audio versions.
Genre: Cozy Mystery
If you like: Math, mysteries, New York City, trilogies, Givenchy (and fashion in general), the throwback to a time where laptops with “air cards” were expensive and super rare.
Genre: Action Adventure, Epic Fantasy
If you like: a world just like ours, but slightly different, souls that take the form of talking animals, stubborn pre-teenage girls, complicated relationships with religion, giant.talking.polar.bears!, science and magic, alternate *spoilers*, and books that are MUCH better than their movie counterparts!
Genre: Humor, Occult, Satire
If you like: Adorable little hellhounds, incompetent, chattering witches, an angel and a demon who are very pleased with the Status Quo, puns, footnotes, Queen, the end of the world, but in a good way, the hope that the BBC series with David Tenant and Michael Sheen.
Genre: Cozy Mystery
If you like: Quick reads, sequels, musical theater, women being pursued by assassins thanks to a computer game being played out in real-life New York, dashing FBI agents, women going on ahead and saving themselves, Manolos (and shoes in general).
Genre: Action Adventure, Epic Fantasy
If you like: Finding out what the heck happened after the end of The Golden Compass, a girl on a hunt for answers finding a new best friend in a scary weird world, and very special knives.
Genre: Mystery, Thriller
If you like: Murder, races against time, lies about religion, secret codes in art, lesser-known but still awesome prequels to super famous books, plots against the Vatican, and stuff that probably can’t be explained, but you look past it and keep reading anyway.
Genre: Cozy Mystery
If you like: Putting the bow on top of a fun trilogy, movies gone meta, Parada (and all things high-end handbags), trading the New York scene of the first two books for Los Angeles, the movie industry, and commentary on actors with incredibly creepy and obsessed fans.
Genre: Action Adventure, Epic Fantasy
If you like: The epic conclusion to the events in The Golden Compass and the Subtle Knife, heavy-handed metaphors for puberty, witches, angels, spies, having your heart ripped out of your chest and stomped on (but in a good way) and did I mention giant.talking.polar.bears?
