New Year’s Eve
Let’s be real, everyone has been waiting for this day to come.
It’s been a tough 365 days. Personally, I started the year off with a cold, and the roller coaster did not slow down from there.
But I also did some really awesome things.
I finally finished the first draft of my manuscript (#WhoIsTalyaNightingaleAndWhyIsSheSoDangGrumpy?), I finished the second draft of my manuscript, I traveled more with Sun Devil volleyball in 2016 than I did in my previous three seasons with the team, I started and finished a third draft of the manuscript, I decided to do something crazy (see yesterday’s bombshell post), I got my first tattoo, and oh yeah, I started and finished a fourth draft of the manuscript.
Editing is important, yo, and I did a lot of it. That, and cried over the upcoming Power Rangers movie (83 more days!).
I also started blogging (obviously), built a desk (wrong), got new carpets, and was successful in never once putting away my clean laundry or unpacking from said work road trips within a reasonable amount of time (#2017HomemakingGoals).
Then there were all the times I had fun serially abusing hashtags on Twitter #HashtagHashtag.
While things didn’t ALWAYS go to plan, like the three-month-long #LivingRoomWallCrisis2k16 that led to me getting said new carpets, or the fact that I wasn’t able to write during each of the 31 days in December. Or that one time I was angry, that time a few days ago when my four-legged roomie was diagnosed with kidney disease, or the other time I was angry, or the OTHER time I was angry, well, shit happens. It’s whatever. And Maggie’s doing much better.
And of course, if anything, my non-existent internal filter has gotten worse as the year progressed, like from this conversation from two months ago. But at least I’ve finally learned not to eat my feelings.
The reactions to my blunt announcement yesterday has been on the spectrum of awesome, really awesome, and damn, I’m going to cry, and I appreciate each and every one of you for the texts, tweets, emails, and that time my sister called me ‘savage AF’, because I am literally as subtle as a brick being thrown through a window.
So here’s to 2017 being a lot more awesome than 2016 was.
It can’t be that difficult. That’s like, the lowest possible bar I could have set.
