What to do when inspiration strikes: make the most of inspiration and prep for when it’s nowhere to be found.

Since I’ve spent most of my life working in and around college sports, there’s one thing I know when it comes to basketball: it’s a game of runs. And these runs do trade off. One team isn’t going to have a monopoly on the entire 40-minute game. It just doesn’t work like that.

And it’s the same with writing. You’re never going to write a book in one sitting. Life doesn’t work like that. You’re always going to find scenes that you’re just not inspired for (for me, see: fight scenes). Like the quote says, you have to take advantage of moments when you’re inspired. When you’re not inspired, what I like to do is go back to a scene that DID inspire me, re-read it, and start writing whatever comes to mind.

Find what works for you. It’s not always going to be easy, but it’s always going to be worth it.

Here’s to a productive week of writing. Don’t forget to sign up for the #MondayMotivation Newsletter by clicking HERE.
