“Writers aren’t exactly people…they’re a whole bunch of people trying to be one person.” -F. Scott Fitzgerald

It can be said that each character you create comes from a person inside of you, because you’re the one who creates them. Or from research. But characters, especially your main characters, fundamentally come from something you relate to, you hear their voices in your head, and you put those voices to paper.

Don’t forget to listen to those voices, especially if you think you’ve gotten lost. They’ll guide you to the story you want to write.

Here’s to a productive week of writing. Have a safe and happy 4th of July for those who celebrate, and don’t forget to sign up for the #MondayMotivation Newsletter by clicking HEREVolume Five will land in your inbox tonight!

A life-long college sports fan and forever bitter about the country's east coast biases, Kathryn, the Fake Redhead, graduated from the University of Arizona with a BA in Creative Writing, emphasis in poetry because she felt the fiction studies emphasis was too pretentious. She is currently helping other writers hone their craft while she pursues her dreams of becoming a published novelist.
